Qualifications Desired

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Acceptance to a graduate program.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
• Must be able to work independently.
• Excellent written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and carry tasks through to completion.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for service, social justice, volunteerism, or community organizing
• Proficiency in social media, e.g. Facebook and Twitter, is a plus.

Job Description Summary

Cabrini is a leader in social justice education. The Graduate Assistant, Community Engagement will support and grow the community service programs of the University, run out of the Wolfington Center. She or he will help survey our partner communities to better understand community resources and needs; help survey Cabrini faculty and staff to catalog current programs and relationships maintained by Cabrini faculty and staff; and use this research to help formulate a strategic agenda for service programming at Cabrini.

• Promote and support the University’s ongoing partnerships with organizations in and around Norristown, PA.
• Build new local and regional partnerships with organizations, areas, or individuals that will be beneficial to the College and the partner.
• Promote and track service opportunities to members of the Cabrini community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
• Design and implement educational programs around community engagement.

• A self-starter with the ability to work as a team player; possess a positive working attitude, excellent prioritization, problem-solving and decision-making skills; confidentiality, tact, patience, willingness to help and diplomacy are critical features of this position.
• Plan community events, including logistics and marketing.
• Maintain effective working relationships.
• Operate effectively in an atmosphere of rapid change.
• Strong organizational skills and collaborative work style.
• Excellent public speaking skills and a familiarity with the use of various communication mediums to advance the Wolfington Center’s goals.
• Encourage students to grow in their faith through service.
• Support the Mission, the Core Values and strategic direction of the University.

• Through advising of student workers, the GA will learn about supervising employees
• Understand how to develop curriculum and resources for a broad campus community
• Assess and evaluate learning for programs and workshops
• Program design and implementation

• Graduate assistants do not teach classes, but may support faculty and staff who are teaching classes.
