Job Description Summary

The Cabrini University Department of Sociology and Criminology invites applications for a fulltime, tenure track Assistant Professor of Sociology position to begin August, 2018. Our Department seeks a dedicated teacher, motivated mentor and research scholar with a Ph.D. in sociology. The successful candidate will have a strong background in research methods, with skills in teaching both quantitative and qualitative analysis as well as the background to contribute to other required courses in the sociology major including Social Theory. All areas of specialization and research interest will be considered. The successful candidate will recognize the responsibilities and opportunities found in a smaller department and should be willing to offer support to the department’s larger criminology major. Knowledge of and interest in online teaching is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent teaching and advising skills and a commitment to undergraduate education.
The teaching load is 12 credits (generally three preparations with one double section) per semester; 24 credits over the course of the academic year. Faculty are required to advise students in the major, contribute to the college’s Social Justice General Education curriculum, hold a position in the governance structure and have an ongoing research agenda.
