Position Summary Information

Qualifications Desired

Qualifications include a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer and Information Science or a related field with demonstrated excellence in teaching and research especially in the areas of data analytics, data warehousing, database management and administration, and related technologies. Industry experience is a plus. Skills in administrative areas will be helpful to assist in the development of the program. Experience constructing and overseeing a department-wide computer laboratory is helpful. The successful candidate for tenure-track positions are expected to engage in continuing scholarly activities.
Familiarity with online and hybrid learning environments is essential. The ability to advise and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds is preferred.

Job Description Summary

The Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Cabrini University invites applications for a full-time position at the level of instructor, assistant professor, or professor of practice beginning August 2018. The position is a nine-month appointment with annual review. Candidates with suitable credentials will be considered for a tenure-track position. The position involves coordinating and teaching in the university’s new online Master’s degree program in Data Sciences that will begin in the Fall of 2018.

DUTIES OF THE POSITION: The successful candidate will teach coursework in the graduate program in data sciences currently under development. The successful candidate will enhance the expertise of the department through emerging areas within computer science. All tenure-track faculty will have a scholarly research agenda, advising responsibilities and are expected to assume department and campus-wide committee responsibilities.
THE DEPARTMENT: The Computer and Information Sciences Department prepares students to meet the information technology needs and challenges of the Information Age workplace and society. Students learn concepts and skills needed for designing, programming, and implementing information systems to solve real-world problems, while also acquiring either a strong mathematical foundation for scientific applications or a foundation in business for management information. The undergraduate curriculum consists of a broad-based set of courses that will prepare students for careers in programming, system analysis and design, information management, and system integration, as well as graduate school.
